Description: Under the administrative direction of the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Associate Vice President of Faculty Affairs is responsible for administering the processes for faculty recruitment, faculty tenure, retention and promotion; faculty governance; faculty compliance with policies governing professional standards of conduct; and for various faculty personnel processes within the Academic Affairs Division. The incumbent is expected to provide vision and leadership for new faculty and orientation and training of department chairs, and faculty. The AVP has responsibility for faculty development, providing direction to the staff and faculty director of the Faculty Development Center. Incumbent must show evidence of commitment to affirmative action and cultural diversity issues, familiarity with collective bargaining environments and working with faculty in an environment of shared governance. The Associate Vice President recommends long- and short-range plans and keeps abreast of other program planning to identify faculty personnel needs and policy implications. The AVP leads a team of support staff and a confidential assistant.
