is seeking an experienced Dietary Services Supervisor. In this full-time position you will be responsible for providing leadership and direct services for our nursing home dining operations.
The Dietary Supervisor is a hands-on leader in day to day operations directly supervising and assisting the dietary services team, maintaining resident focus business decorum at all times, and overseeing the dining room flow, tray delivery service flow, and balancing the serving responsibilities among the dietary staff.
This individual will be responsible for handling all foods in accordance with sanitary procedures and standards and complies with all federal, state and local regulatory procedures regarding food service. Other duties include budgeting, ordering, supervision & scheduling.
This individual will be part of a team whose objective is to provide a clean, safe, dignified, happy and healthy environment for residents. Job Responsibilities
Complies with the facility's attendance policy requiring regular, reliable, and punctual attendance Supervises of the operation of the food service department
Responsible for knowing, understanding, and conveying to other dietary staff personnel the Federal and State rules and regulations regarding nursing home dietary requirements and is responsible for their enforcement within the scope of the Dietary Department. Inspects and evaluates the department regularly to insure compliance with all state and federa l regulations
Completes initial interviews with each resident to determine their food preferences and special needs, and completes quarterly updates.
Updates and maintains resident profile cards, and completes quarterly updates
Processes new diet orders and diet changes when received from nursing service, and keeps diet cards updated. Performs daily meal rounds
Prepares and posts menus with menu changes noted; keeps copies of menus on file quarterly. Supervises, plans, schedules and co-ordinates the work of the food service employees
Plans staff and special function menus as directed by the Administrator Maintains the procurement and storage of all food and supplies
Responsible for timely completion of initial screening, quarterly reviews, care plans, MDS-section K, IDT, weight management notes, and all RD follow-up
Participates in the care plan/IDT meetings Participates in QA meetings.
Plans and coordinates standards and procedures of food storage, preparation, and service; equipment and department sanitation; and employee safety
Inspects and evaluates the department regularly to ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, resolving deficiencies as identified
Works with Dietary Consultant to achieve quality food service
Attends meetings with employees, administration, and/or regulatory personnel, and other department heads/supervisors as needed
May be required to perform job duties of staff they supervise Develops cleaning schedules, and other dietary management tools
Coordinates dietary services with nursing service and activities director
Investigates on-the-job injuries and corrects the problem and/or retrains the employee as necessary
Ensures proper handling and utilization of all food and equipment to prevent contamination and unsafe acts Develops and conducts in-services and orientation programs for food service employees on a monthly basis Monitors the food intake of all residents
Reports any problems to the Dietary Consultant and/or Director of Nursing Any other assignments as directed by the Administrator
· 1 plus years experience in skilled nursing dining
·High School diploma required or GED required
·Supervisory/management experience preferred which may include supervising and responsibility of shift/daily operations
·Maintains current Serv Save certification
·Ability to handle multiple priorities
·Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication
·Ability to read and follow instructions to meet the dietary needs of the residents
·Competent in organizational, time management skills
·Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision making skills
·Proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office (Windows, and Excel) with the ability to learn new applications
